I am a retired teacher currently employed as an Assistant Manager at a restaurant in New Jersey. I am seeking a position in management in the restaurant/hospitality industry. I enjoy working hard and I love working with people. I am comfortable working in high-stress conditions and can work for long periods of time. I have impeccable time-management and multitasking skills. I am self-motivated and full of energy. My background is diverse as is my skill set. “Turning your dream into mine” means that I will align myself with the goals of my employer rather than myself. It means that I will work hard and honestly. It means you can trust me to always be professional, do my best and keep the dream of the company first priority.
My career in Special Education and my employment as a restaurant Server and Assistant Manager have given me skills I can use in the workplace. I can roll up my sleeves and do physical work just as well as I can write lesson plans or student progress reports. I have also acquired many business skills on my own including the entire Microsoft Office Suite.
As a Special Educator I had the opportunity to teach nearly all levels of Primary and Secondary schools. I taught students with Autism and Asperger’s as well as gifted and honor students taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses. I taught Science, History, Algebra & Geometry, and the Language Arts at all grade levels. I also trained teachers in Algebra and Geometry as well as Computer Technology. I used computers with my students and as management tools. I've programmed webpages for my students and others’ students' use. I also have a lot of experience with communication boards and augmentative technology.
I have gained many surprising skills as a restaurant server and Assistant Manager. I have impeccable time-management, prioritizing, public relations, suggestive selling and problem solving skills. I am fine working in stressful situations and I always keep my cool, no matter what. I can turn problems into win-win situations so that everyone is happy. And, I can also carry a tray of food like it’s no one else’s business!
As an Assistant Manager I am responsible for managerial duties including receiving orders and updating inventory, managing employees, and the opening & closing duties of the restaurant. I am also entrusted with counting monies, adding to and taking from the safe. The only difference between a regular Manager and an Assistant Manager, at this establishment, is that the regular Manager is paid on salary while I am being paid by the hour.
I am dedicated to the job and I am dedicated to my employer. I’ve always stuck with my employers for long runs. I worked for the Department of Education of New York City for nearly twenty years and I’ve been with my current employer for ten years. I believe that loyalty is best for all parties because familiarity can be a strong asset. I am also committed to the task at hand. Once I get started on an asignment or project, I give it my best effort to finish it in a timely manner and a job done well.
My dedication runs with my honesty as well. I never find a reason to break this virtue of mine because once a person is found to be dishonest it is quite difficult for that person the regain others trusts. Denying mistakes wastes the opportunity to improve while accepting ones mistakes allows for betterment. I am always looking to improve upon everything I do in life and I am always finding ways to become more efficient. One of the best ways I can do this is by being agreeable to constructive criticism and allowing for change. Like a computer, I am always updating my software. And as a teacher, I am always a student who is willing and eager to learn.

I am well versed at using and creating Word templates, advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheet formulas, cross referencing and dynamic layout. I am a man for all seasons when it comes to my hobbies as well. I enjoy swimming, bicycling, hiking in nature, camping, skiing, and rollerblading. I enjoy being in the mountains very much and just as much as I enjoy being in the forests and the beaches. Ocean swimming and bicycling are activities I’ve done since I was a child. I’m not someone who goes to the gym because I prefer getting an equivalent or greater workout outdoors. As much as I love being in the ocean and mountains, I love being in the sky too!
Flying drones is a big hobby of mine and gives me the closest feeling to flying without having a pilot’s license. I specialize in FPV drone flying.

I also love cooking, learning new things, reading about science and technology and keeping up with current events. I love star gazing and bird watching. If fact, if an activity has to do with nature, I’m probably already in love with doing it or endeavoring to learn how. My favorite board games are chess and backgammon. And, although I’m really not that good at it, I love playing the guitar.
Rather than being someone who only knows how to go by the book, I am someone who can think for himself and come up with a plan when "the book" doesn't apply. I have learned that taking the proper care to do things correctly the first time takes less time than having to do things over due to mistakes from rushing or taking shortcuts. I tend to come up with plans and I then aim to stick to those plans while making adjustments if needed rather than going back to the drawing board. However, if starting over from scratch is the best or only option, then I have no problem going that route. I am very conscious of details as I pay much attention to them in all parts of my life. I am an artist everyday, in everything I do. I am cognizant of the impossibility of anyone to reach perfection but I feel that if it is something I endeavor, I'm confident I’ll get closer with each attempt. I’m a bit of a workaholic and I am self-motivated and self-managing. Let me make your goal mine and as member of your team, I will always do my best. I assure you I won’t let you down.
